Clarence Sheridan Fitzgerald

Clarence Sheridan Fitzgerald, 86, of Mounds, died at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at his residence.

Mr. Fitzgerald was born on Sept. 14, 1935, in Unity, the son of Clarence Alva and Flora Cook Fitzgerald.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mounds for 60 years, where he had been the song leader for the past 47 years. He owned and operated Fitzgerald Garage and Wrecker Service for 42 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; by his daughter, Holly Fitzgerald; and by a sister, Doris Everett.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Fitzgerald; a son, Greg Fitzgerald; a daughter, Christine Shreve; a sister and brother-in-law, Ellen and James “Hank” Greenley; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 28, at the First Baptist Church in Mounds. Pastor Paul Wareing and Rev. Buddy Walls officiated. Interment followed in St. John’s Cemetery near Dongola.
