Colleen Corzine

Colleen Corzine, 90, of Dongola, died at 7:52 a.m. Thursday, May 27, 2021, at home.

She was born on March 8, 1931, in Union County, the daughter of Johnny and Nellie Knupp Fisher. 

She married Wendell Orlan Corzine on Feb. 26, 1950. He preceded her in death on March 16, 1995.

She was the owner/operator for Corzine’s Hardware & Appliance Store in Dongola for many years. She was a member of the Wetaug Church of Christ.

She loved gardening and working in the yard with flowers and plants. She especially loved the abundance of Easter flowers on the hillside in her yard every spring. She also loved visiting with friends.

She is survived by her two sons, Greg Corzine and Cris Corzine, both of Dongola; a sister, Margaret Peeler of Dongola; a sister-in-law, Yvonne Staley of Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas; special friend Tori (Brad) Goines of Jonesboro; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Corzine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wendell Corzine; her mother and father-in-law, William and Edna Corzine; a brother, Don Fisher; a sister, Bonnie Ford; and a sister-in-law, Glennis Paige Thoroman.

Funeral services for Colleen Corzine were held Wednesday, June 2, at 11 a.m. at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola, with Brent Miller officiating. Private interment will take place later in American Legion Cemetery in Dongola.

According to her wishes, there was no visitation and there will not be a graveside service.

Memorials may be made to the American Legion Cemetery in Dongola or  to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

The family extends a special thanks to all of the nurses and staff at Hospice of Southern Illinois for their excellent care.
