Correne Lavonna Bliss

Correne Lavonna Bliss, 93, of Coweta, Okla., formerly of Olathe, Kan., Mount Morris, Ill., Davis, Ill. and Anna, Ill., passed away on Sunday, Oct. 10, 2021 at 3:20 p.m. at her home.

Lavonna was born on April 15, 1928, in Anna, the daughter of Lester Lee and Enola Lois (Williams) Stevens.

Lavonna first married Russell Arvid Swenson and to this union three chidren were born. She later married John Merlin Bliss on Aug. 21, 1989 and he survives.

Lavonna worked as a school bus driver for a time, and was a homemaker. She was an excellent cook and loved baking and decorating cakes. She was a member of The Way Church of the Nazarene and faithfully attended church until her health no longer allowed her to do so.

During her life, she taught Sunday School and sang in church choirs and trios. She loved flowers, gardening, cardinals and hummingbirds, but mostly she loved spending time with her family. Lavonna was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include her loving husband of thirty-two years, John Bliss of Coweta, Olka.; her son, K. Steven (G. Dale) Swenson of Lake Wales, Fla.; her daughter, Rhonda (Rev. Steven) Lester of Coweta, Okla.; her daughter-in-law, Pam Swenson of Winterhaven, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Alana (Dr. Joe) Hauter of Mackinaw, Ill., Kaitlyn (Andrew) Sterken of Port Saint Lucie, Fla., Joshua (Marisa) Swenson of Lakeland, Fla., Matthew Swenson of Houston, Texas, Kristin Lester of San Francisco, Calif., Lindsay Lester of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Drew (Hayden) Lester of Tulsa, Okla.; five great-grandchildren, Dade, Milli, Lyla, Sebastian and Este; and several nieces, nepehws, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, W. Bradley Swenson; and two brothers, Wallace Stevens and Norbert Stevens.

Family and close friends will gather for a graveside funeral service at Casper Cemetery, near Anna, on Saturday, Oct. 16, at 10 a.m. with Reverend Steven Lester officiating.

Memorials may be made to The Way Church of the Nazarene and will be accepted at Crain Funeral Home, 135 West Vienna Street, Anna, Illinois 62906.
