David Dakin

David Dakin, 76, of Olmsted, died at 4:02 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at his home, with his loving family by his side.

Mr. Dakin was born on May 11, 1946, in St. Louis. He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his grandkids. 

He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served in the Vietnam conflict. He had retired from Harrah’s Casino in Metropolis. He was known as a jack of all trades.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Dakin; parents Charlie and Wilma Menees Dakin; son Paul Dean; daughter Roxann Dakin; and sisters Ella Russell and Mary Zander.

Survivors include his children, Darrell Dakin, Danielle Dakin, Amanda Dakin Newkirk and Julie Revolinski; sister Iris Tennant; brothers James Glenn Dakin and Jesse Dakin; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Per the family’s request, cremation has been accorded, with services to be held at a later date.
