Dennis Lee Chandler

Dennis Lee Chandler, 57, of Ullin, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2023, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born on Jan. 19, 1966, in Murphysboro, the son of Oscar Stanley and Elma Starcher Chandler.

He married Sonia Minyard on Aug. 18, 1990. She survives.

He was a 1984 graduate of Century High School. He was a professional truck driver by profession and loved to travel. He loved Jeep riding and the beach life. 

He was on the Ullin Fire Department for over 24 years and spent time on the Ullin Village Board. He loved to cook and would have loved to have owned a restaurant. 

He loved the Lord and attending Harvest Church in Anna. He was especially proud of his two boys and his wife. He absolutely adored his grandchildren. He never met a stranger and would do anything for you.

Along with his wife, survivors include his sons, Dylan Chandler (Hannah) and Seth Chandler; grandchildren Henry Chandler, Isabel Chandler and Paxton Chandler; a brother, Don (Beth) Chandler; sisters Lois (Larry) Burk, Susie (Gene) Adams and Judy Zeschke (Larry Henderson); the daughter he always wanted, Kristy Kiestler; special nephew Stanley (Terra) Richardson; special cousin Jenna Dewitt AKA babygirl; and many other nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gene Chandler; and nephews Travis Chandler and Timmy Chandler.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at Crain Funeral Home in Ullin, with the Rev. Clint Nale and Pastor Matt Crain officiating.

Interment followed the funeral services at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes.

Memorials can be made to Crain Funeral Home to help offset funeral expenses. 

Crain Funeral Home in Ullin was in charge of arrangements.
