Dennis Lee York

Dennis Lee York, 71, of Anna, died Saturday, June 15, 2019, at his home. 

He was born on May 7, 1948, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., the son of Arthur Edgar and Mildred Louise Jiles York. 

He married Ann Lackey on Jan. 31, 1981, in Anna.

Mr. York is survived by his wife, Ann York of Anna; children Jennifer (Richard) York of Jonesboro,  Dennis Lee Jr. (Debra) York of Wolf Lake and Cassie (Zack) Cohen of Jonesboro; seven grandchildren, Richard Kyle York, Emily Elisabeth (Alan) Reed, Connor McCain Benbrook, Clay Arthur “Cashew” York, Graydon Lee Edmonds, Eli Cole Cohen and Kate LeeAnn Cohen; a brother, Larry Arthur (Vicki) York of Texas; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Mr. York served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He loved baseball and playing serious rounds of golf. He and Ann bought the Dixie Barbecue in Jonesboro in 1983. Continuing the family business they have served many generations until his retirement in 2017.

He was a lifetime member of Anna Masonic Lodge 520 A.F & A.M. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and loved spending time with his family.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with Pastor Larry York officiating. Interment was in the Anna Cemetery. 

Memorials can be made to the Union County Country Club Junior Golf Camp.
