Dorothy Holmes, 92, of Anna, died at 9:55 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, at Integrity Health Care in Marion.
She was born on May 2, 1925, the daughter of Roy and Wilda Toler Pratt.
She married Harold Holmes in June 1964. He preceded her in death on June 11, 1993.
She worked at JoAnn Laundry in Anna, the Good Luck Glove Company in Carbondale and later worked at the Anna State Hospital (now known as Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center) for many years.
After retirement, she worked for her daughter, Brenda, at the Ponderosa in Anna for 10 years and all the employees there lovably called her “Granny.” She loved to crochet and to read. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Anna since she was a young girl.
She is survived by her son, Glenn Tygett Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; daughter Brenda T. (Darrell) Stokes of Anna; granddaughter Traci (Steven) Bottom of La Plata, Md.; grandsons Ryan Tygett, Brandon Stokes, Justin Stokes and Nathan Stokes, all of Anna; great-grandchildren Aaron Winn of Anna and Miranda (Dean) Hamilton of Cobden; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Nevada Hileman of Anna; a brother, Amos (Ruth) Pratt of Lick Creek; a stepdaughter, Dena (Norman) Bissey of Olney; step-grandchildren Tammy, Amy and Dale; several step-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Glenn Tygett Sr. and Harold Holmes; a sister, Barbara Barker; a grandson, Christopher Tygett; and a step-grandchild, Karen Bissey.
Funeral services for Dorothy Holmes were at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro, with the Rev. Larry Buckles officiating. Interment was in the Anna City Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church in Anna or to the donor’s choice.
