Dorothy L. ‘Dot’ Shoemaker

Dorothy L. “Dot” Shoemaker, 72, of Anna, died at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2017, at her home.

She was born on Oct. 11, 1944, in Anna, the daughter of Ernest Ray and Versella Geraldine Oschmann Kelley.

She married Earl F. Shoemaker on May 25, 1962, in Anna.

She is survived by her four children, Julie Ann Shoemaker of Anna, Tonika Shoemaker of Hurst, Christopher Shoemaker of Lexington, Ky., and Ginger (Clyde) Delk of Rockwood, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Austin Shoemaker, Rebecca Wilson, Dillon Jurcy, Lane Kayli Piller, Jacob Nagel, Colton Nagel, Addison Nagel and one more on the way; one brother, Allen Ray (Carol) Kelley of Buncombe; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl F. Shoemaker; and one sister, Norma Tite.

She was a member of the Anna Heights Baptist Church in Anna. She worked many years as a teacher aide for Tri-County Special Education. She dearly loved and cared for her kids at Tri-County. She was an avid bingo player and played as often as she could.

Funeral services for Mrs. Shoemaker will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, today, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with R.W. McAlister officiating. Interment will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
