Dorothy Spurlock

Dorothy Spurlock, 85, of Anna, died at 6:49 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, at Union County Hospital in Anna.

She was born on March 28, 1931, in Union County, the daughter of Clarence and Nora Dover Hinkle.

She married Roy Pitts on March 16, 1952, in Cobden. He preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 1994. She later married George Spurlock on Oct. 17, 1998 in Anna. He preceded her in death on May 11, 2013.

She is survived by her foster daughter, Cheryl Simpkins Taylor and husband Richard Taylor of Christopher; cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; and one brother, Frances “Sonny” Hinkle.

She was a member of Landmark Pentecostal Church for many years. For the last several years, she attended the Apostolic Faith Tabernacle Church in Jonesboro. She worked with her parents at Hinkles Grocery Store.

Funeral services for Ms. Spurlock were at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. Mark Goins officiating. Interment was in Anna City Cemetery.
