Dylan James Myers

Dylan James Myers, 25, of Bismarck, N.D., and a former resident of Metropolis, was tragically taken from this life on Aug. 23, 2022. He was born on March 14, 1997, in Paducah.

He is survived by his father, James Eric Myers of Chattanooga, Tenn.; three siblings, Austin Myers of Chattanooga, Tenn., Harley Myers of Roanoke, Texas, and Shadow Capron of Metropolis; grandparents Dennis and Joanie Myers of Anna and Jim White of Metropolis. He also leaves his best friend, Gunner, Dylan’s bloodhound. 

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Kathy White.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He was deeply loved and respected by his family and friends. Those who knew him well would let you know he was always quick to lend a hand and he had a generous spirit.

A 2015 graduate of El Dorado High School in Placerville, Calif., he volunteered in 2016 to serve in the U.S. Army. He served three years as a biomedical equipment technician while being stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. 

After the military, he continued to work in healthcare as a field service engineer, repairing and maintaining diagnostic imaging equipment. His most recent job was for G.E. Healthcare in the Bismarck area.

Funeral services for Dylan will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with Jeff Myers officiating. 

Interment will be in the Alto Pass Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Illinois Army National Guard and the Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of the VFW in Anna. 

Friends can call from 11 a.m. until the service hour at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.

A reception for the family and close friends will be held at Brodies Tavern at 202 Public Square in Jonesboro immediately following the graveside services.
