Earlene Anderson Hale

Earlene Anderson Hale, 95, of South Gate, Calif., died Sunday, May 28, 2017, at PIH Hospital in Downey, Calif.

She was born on Nov. 5, 1921, in Tamms, the daughter of Merritt McKinley Anderson and Lula Hoops Anderson. She graduated in 1940 from the Tamms Community High School. She and William Sherman Hale were married on Sept. 16, 1941, in Cape Girardeau.

They lived in Ullin at the time he joined the service. She accompanied him during his time in service, working different jobs and making lifelong friends across the United States. They settled in Southern California after the war.

She had many hobbies, some of which were crocheting, needlepoint and she recently completed and started a new cross-stitching project. She enjoyed bowling for many years and enjoyed doing genealogy. She was a member of the Jasper County Genealogy Society.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Sherlene and James Matthew Wearing of South Gate, Calif.

She was preceded in death by one son, Donald Sherman Hale; her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Merritt McKinley Anderson and Austin Anderson.

She was the last living grandchild of William Linley and Sarah Jane Gibson Anderson.

Interment will be in Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, Calif.
