Edgar ‘Ed’ R. Johnson

Edgar “Ed” R. Johnson, 85, of Wickliffe, Ky., and formerly of Anna, died Monday, Dec. 28, 2020, at the Lifecare Center of La Center, Ky. 

He was born on Oct. 28, 1935, in Miller City, the son of Marshall and Mabel Dover Johnson. 

He married June Brown on April 28, 1956, in Apopka, Fla. She preceded him in death in October 2018.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his children, Guy (Yvette) Johnson of Wickliffe, Ky., and Tammy (Bill) Stubbs of Celestine, Ind.; grandchildren Crystal Villar, William R. Stubbs, Ellen Stubbs, Lexi Johnson and Eli Johnson; great-grandchildren Kimberly Villar and Bristol Persinger; a brother, Russell (Judy) Johnson of Jonesboro; a sister, Cheryl Appleberry of Peoria; other relatives and many friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, June Johnson; and a son, Jimmy Dale Johnson.

Mr. Johnson served in the U.S. Air Force. He served during the Korean War.

He genuinely loved people. He was the leader of his family and loved spending time with them. He really enjoyed spending time fishing as well. 

Funeral services were at noon Thursday, Dec. 31, at the New Beginnings Community Worship Center, with Pastor Guy Johnson officiating. Interment was in the Anna Cemetery.  

Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
