Edward A. ‘Buzz’ Crowell

Edward A. “Buzz” Crowell, 65, of Anna, died Friday, March 16, 2018, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale at 2:40 p.m.

He was born on July 28, 1952, in Union County, the son of George Allen and Mary Magdeline Dirden Crowell.

He married Debra Morrison on April 28, 1973, at Kornthal Church near Jonesboro.

He is survived by his wife of almost 45 years, Debra Crowell of Anna; a son Christopher Crowell of Anna; three sisters, Caroline (Ed) Cates of Anna, Alice (Randy) Tucker of Jonesboro and Becky Johnson of Murphysboro; a sister-in-law, Dianna Morrison of Anna; a brother-in-law, Tim (Shelley) Morrison of Cobden; many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; numerous cousins; and many friends, all of whom he loved very deeply. He loved the Reed family and always looked forward to spending time with them.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Pearl Jean (Reed) Morrison; his father-in-law, Elton Ray Morrison; a brother, George Dewayne Crowell; an uncle and namesake, Eddie Crowell; and a nephew, Shawn Reed Holbrook.

He loved to grow flowers, to collect pocket knives and to repair gear driven clocks. He was retired from the Union County Housing Authority. He worked in maintenance for almost 25 years and also worked for the City of Anna.

He was a people person who always tried to find the good in them. He loved his wife and son. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, he loved to laugh and talk with his uncles.

Funeral services for Edward A. “Buzz” Crowell were at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with Rev. Paul Sadler officiating. Interment was in the Anna City Cemetery.
