Evelyn L. Fry
Evelyn L. Fry, 87, of Cobden, died at 3:46 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2017, at Union County Hospital in Anna.
She was born on June 13, 1929, in Makanda, the daughter of Owen Ross and Stella E. Furlow Deming.
She married William W. “Bill” Fry on Aug. 12, 1974, in Kankakee. He preceded her in death on April 11, 1997.
She is survived by her children, Jack (Judy) Hankla of Cobden, Lisa (Donald) Newton of Springfield, Elizabeth (Tom) Minton of Swansea and John Hankla of Cobden; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Eagle, Sarah Ratermann, Beth Jones, Jackie McHugh, Emily Gebhardt, Rebecca Newton, Bradley Newton, Greg Minton and Shelley Wunderlich; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Deming of Hammond, Ind.; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William W. “Bill” Fry; four brothers, Ross Deming, Charles Deming, David Deming and Roger Dale Deming; and two sisters, Juanita Welch and Jenny Baggott.
She was a member of the Anna VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She owned and operated her own beauty salon for many years.
Funeral services for Mrs. Fry were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden. Interment was in the Cobden Cemetery.
