Evie Henderson, 68, of Pocahontas, Ark., formerly of Olive Branch, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021 at Flo and Phil Hospice House in Jonesboro, Ark.
She was born April 28, 1953 in Gideon, Mo., the daughter of Walter and Susan (Head) Oakes.
Evie was a member of the Little Ole Country Church at Lick Creek and enjoyed being a CNA at St. Francis Medical Center. She would also, on her own time, come in to wash and fix patients hair, with her main goal being a smile on their faces!
She is survived by a daughter; Tammy (Jason) Henry; and two sons, Kevin Henderson and Scott (Deanna) Henderson. Ten grandchildren; four sisters, Brenda Reed, Linda Templeton, Patricia Kay Coleson, and Judy Akridge; two brothers, L.G. Oakes and Glenn Oakes; and many other family members and friends.
Evie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Vernon “Butch” Henderson; her step-mother who raised her, Ellen Oakes; four brothers, Leeman, Ralph, David Oakes and Rickey Cobb; two sisters, Nellie and Joyce; and one great grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Sept. 13, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. The funeral service will follow immediately at 1 pm with Bro. Ken Wilson officiating.
Interment will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes, Illinois.
