Floy Irene Sullivan

Floy Sullivan, 77, of Anna, died at 7:53 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born on Nov. 22, 1939, in Anna, the daughter of Roy “Pete” and Louise Youngblood Stokes.

She married Isaac D. “Ike” Sullivan on Feb. 22, 1958, in Anna. He preceded her in death on Aug. 25, 2002.

She is survived by her son, Jim (Kim) Sullivan of Creal Springs; three daughters, Mary (Charles) Strader of Knoxville, Tenn., Melinda (Greg) Perry of Anna and Sarah Sullivan (Fred Nikola) of Anna; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jack (Susan) Stokes of Anna and Rodney (LouAnn) Stokes of Cape Girardeau; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ike Sullivan; a brother, Gaylon Stokes; and a grandson, Daniel Legg.

She was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church for many years. She spent her life helping run the family business, Cache River Towing. She was the dispatcher for the towboats. When her husband, Captain Ike, was operating his towboat, Floy was the backbone of the family and saw to the needs of her children and grandchildren. During her retirement she loved spending her time with her grandchildren and all of her family. Floy regularly had lunch outings with her girls, the class of 1957, she also enjoyed gardening and attending church.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sullivan will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, today, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. Doug Bridgeman officiating. Interment will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois.
