George Gerald ‘Jerry’ Lacy

George Gerald “Jerry” Lacy, 72, of Memphis, Tenn., and formerly of Union County, died on Nov. 15, 2016, at his home.

Mr. Lacy attended First United Methodist Church of Martin, Tenn., until he moved to Memphis in 2012. He played basketball at the University of Tennessee at Martin and shared his love for basketball by being a high school basketball coach. He worked at UT-Martin as a director of admissions and development and was a co-owner of Ken-Tenn Sports in Martin until his retirement in 2006. 

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Williams of Anna and Patti Shuler of Fort Collins, Colo.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Martha Lee Woods; his daughters, Jenny Graves (Mitch) of Jackson, Tenn., and Julie Ashby (Bryce) of Memphis, Tenn.; his son, Mike Lacy (Susan) of Memphis, Tenn.; his grandchildren, Jake, Nick, Drew and Ben Lacy, Abby, Riley, Connor and Lacy Graves, Kate, Woods and Miles Ashby. 

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, at the First United Methodist Church in Martin. Memorials can be made to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital or to The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
