Hazel Ulen

Hazel Ulen, 100, of Ullin, died at 1:10 p.m., Thursday, March 9, 2017, at her apartment in Cache Valley.

She was born on July 23, 1916, in Reynolds County, Mo., the daughter of Clarence H. and Odessa “Dessie” Lay Weible.

She married Sam Ulen on Aug. 27, 1949. He preceded her in death on March 19, 2013.

She was an avid gardener and loved her grandchildren. In addition to being a mother and grandmother, she was the business manager of Ulen Farms. She was a member of Ullin Baptist Church and a former member of Beech Grove Church.

She is survived by her children, Mike (Pam) Ulen of Ullin, Becky Rodney of Energy and Sammy (Cathy) Ulen of Ullin; seven grandchildren, Jarrod (Diane) Ulen of Union City, Tenn., Lesley Ulen of Tamms, Lindsey Ulen (Michael Washington) of Farmington, Mo., Kerri (Michael) Buescher of Herrin, Kristi Viola of Bossier City, La., Marissa (Adam) Reynolds of Cobden and Brian (Lexie) Ulen of Jackson, Mo.; 16 great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Ulen, Reese Ulen, Eric Evans, Madelyn Washington, Miley Washington, McKenna Washington, Shannon Youngman, Austin Youngman, Hayden Viola, Grayson Viola, Brady Reynolds, Bryce Reynolds, Brock Reynolds, Bryleigh Ulen, Brielle Ulen and Brynn Ulen; and a brother, Marvin Weible of St. Louis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sam Ulen; two brothers, Ed and Homer Weible; and two sisters, Eileen May and Geraldine Spuhler.

Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 12, at Ullin Baptist Church, with the Rev. Clint Nale officiating. Interment was in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the Mt. Pisgah or Ullin cemeteries.

Crain Funeral Home in Ullin was in charge of arrangements.
