Jack Dean Bennett

Jack Dean Bennett, 84, of Anna, died Friday, June 7, 2019, at his daughter’s home in Ferndale, Wash. 

He was born on May 20, 1935, in Thebes, the son of Harry and Margaret Edmonson Bennett. 

He married Shirley A. Kesler on July 30, 1958, in Anna. Together they shared almost 61 years of marriage.

Mr. Bennett is survived by his wife, Shirley A. Bennett of Ferndale, Wash.; two daughters, Julie (Farrokh) Kahnamoui of Ferndale, Wash., and Debra (Tom) Hicks of Clearwater, Fla.; three grandchildren, Michelle (Lewis) Dirden of Anna, Rachael (Karl) Cavallini of Groveland, and Alexander (Lauren) Siegfried of Anna; three great-grandchildren, Andy Dirden of Ferndale, Wash., Leah Dirden of Anna and Logan Sea-Siegfried of Pekin; a brother, Charles (Emma) Bennett of Tamms; a sister, Hazel Vaughn of Anna; other relatives and many friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Mary Chester, June Plumb, Ella Needy and Joanne Benefield; and three brothers-in-law, Carl Vaughn, Ray Chester and Bill Plumb.

Mr. Bennett was a member of Anna Heights Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army.

His love and passion was auctioneering. He owned and operated Bennett Auction Company. He retired from Oil Field Electric after 35 years of service as a ground man truck driver. He was a member of IBEW Local 702 for 50 years. 

After retirement he continued auctioneering full time, often having his family alongside teaching them the trade.

Mr. Bennett enjoyed his early morning gatherings with friends for breakfast and coffee to catch up on current events and walks with his dogs around the neighborhood. 

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, today, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. Mike Vaughn officiating. 

Interment will be in the Anna Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of the VFW in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard military honor team of Marion. 

Friends can call after noon and until the service hour at 2 p.m. on Thursday, today, at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna or to Anna Heights Baptist Church.
