James ‘Jim’ Severs
James “Jim” Severs, 77, of Pulaski, died at 8:20 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2022, at Integrity Healthcare in Anna.
Mr. Severs was born on Sept. 18, 1944, in Cairo.
On Aug. 28, 1965, he married the love of his life, Brema “Pill” Clifford. They enjoyed 53 wonderful years together.
Mr. Severs was the bass singer for the Gloryroad Travelers gospel music group for nearly 40 years. He attended Ullin Pentecostal Church.
Jim and Pill enjoyed shopping for antiques and collecting cookie jars and other glassware.
He retired from McKesson Corporation in 2011. He previously worked at Burkart Foam and as a school bus driver for Meridian Community School District No. 101.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Brema “Pill” Severs; his parents, John L. Severs and Clara Mae Aldred Severs; and his stepmother, Dorothy Severs.
Survivors include his son, Johnny (Ginny) Severs of Pulaski; grandchildren Samantha (Kaleb) Green of Hartselle, Ala., and Ethan (Shania) Severs of Pulaski; a sister-in-law, Cindy (Eddie) Dover of Grand Chain; nieces Amanda (Anthony) Dover of Villa Ridge and Nickie (Kyle) Everly of Foley, Ala.; great-nieces Olivia (Andy) Barker of Anna, Makenzie Knupp and Alesha Knupp of Villa Ridge; and many other friends and relatives.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge. The Rev. Herman Painter, the Rev. Anthony Underwood and Pastor Mike Sharp officiating. Interment to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Pulaski.
