James D. ‘J.D.’ Adams
James D. “J.D.” Adams, 95, of Anna, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna.
He was born on Nov. 23, 1927, in Tamms, the son of Dean and Mabel Forsythe Adams.
He married Barbara Jean “Bobbie” Guthrie on Oct. 17, 1953, in Clinton, Iowa. She preceded him in death on Jan. 20, 2018.
Mr. Adams is survived by his sons, Tim (Mary) Adams of Jackson, Mo., and Jamie (Amber) Adams of St. Louis; three grandchildren, Jocelyn, Katlyn and Eban; his siblings, Inez Donigan, Alva Nelle Johnson, Carol Jean Thomas and Lynn Dean Adams; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jean Adams; his parents; and a grandson, Colter.
Mr. Adams was a member of Mt. Moriah Lutheran Church in Anna. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW’s Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 and Townsend F. Dodd American Legion Post No. 0344. He retired from the United States Postal Service.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Interment followed in the Anna Cemetery.
Military rites were conducted by the VFW’s Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 and the Illinois National Guard funeral honors team.
