Jan Inman

Jan Inman, 82, of Cobden, died Friday, Dec. 23, 2022, at his home. 

He was born on Nov. 22, 1940, in Cobden, the son of Forest Harold and Geraldine May Fischer Inman.

Mr. Inman is survived by his son, Douglas Inman and daughter, Cassandra (Gary) Sweitzer, all of Cobden; five grandchildren, Nora Inman, Devyn Inman, Alexander Inman, Theron Sweitzer and Lauren Sweitzer; his former wife, Janice Inman of Cobden; a brother, Patrick (Sharon) Inman of Blanco, Texas; a sister, Maribeth Smith of Cobden; a sister-in-law, Melba Inman of Cobden; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; other relatives and many dear friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son Jeffrey Inman; two brothers, Stephen and Michael Inman; and a brother-in-law, Donovan Smith.

Mr. Inman served in the U.S. Army. He served in the 101st Airborne Division. He was a retired millwright craftsman after working many years in the trade. 

He loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, watching horse racing and tending to his vegetable garden. He never met a stranger. He loved sharing stories and spending time with his nephews, Danny and Darrin. He will be deeply missed.

Memorial funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden, with Davy and Danny Miller officiating. 

Military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of the VFW in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard funeral honor team of Marion. 

Friends can visit after 11 a.m. and until the service hour at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at the funeral home. 

Memorials can be made to the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
