Jean Vesta Brown Davie

Jean Vesta Brown Davie, 100, of Ware, died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family.  

She was born on July 4, 1922, in Ware, the daughter of Oscar and Augusta Grabow Brown. 

She married Howard “Bud” Davie on Oct. 27, 1946. He preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 2016. They were married 69 years before his death.

She worked for Selective Services for several years. During her married life, she was a homemaker and worked beside her husband on the farm. 

She was a lifetime member of the Ware United Methodist Church, where she remained active with many roles. 

She and her husband worked with the Shalom Parish Mexican Mission and were hosts to the Spanish missionaries. She was very active in reaching out to the needs of her community as well as her church projects and activities.

She was a great mother, cook, seamstress, gardener, mentor, friend to all and a devoted Christian of unwavering faith. Her family was a priceless treasure and a great joy to her.

She is survived by her daughters, Gayla (Bob) Smithey of Ware and Ranae (Mark) Smith of Buncombe; seven grandchildren, Rob (Marcey) Smithey of Ware, Heather (Larry) Goodwin of West Memphis, Ark., Sharee Smithey of Jackson, Mo., April (Jay) Parks of Oxford, Miss., Brandon (Danielle) Smithey of Ware, Bethany (Bo) Bennett of Cobden and Gabriel (Laine) Smith of New Madrid, Mo.; 19 great-grandchildren, Megan (Trenton) Colyer, Ashleigh (A.J.) Lewis, Khriston Smithey, Hunter Smithey, Mariah McAlister, Chloe McAlister, Miley McAlister, Isabella McAlister, Ella Bennett, Lane Bennett, Reed Smithey, Clay Smithey, Reese Goodwin, Ryder Goodwin, Roston Goodwin, Jayden Parks, Mollie Parks, Payton Smith and Silas Smith; and five great-great-grandchildren, Hadley and Parker Colyer, Kashton, Kylen and Kerian Lewis.

Funeral services for Jean Davie will be held at noon Thursday, today, at Ware United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert Smithey and Pastor Sandy Estes officiating. Interment will follow in the Anna Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the service hour at noon Thursday, at the church.

Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements. 

Memorials can be made to the Ware United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the church.
