Jesse B. Hickam

Jesse B. Hickam, 96, of Anna, died on Nov. 15, 2021, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna.

He was born as the son of George and Meda McKinney-Hickam on May 1, 1925, in Alto Pass.

He married the love of his life, Sarah Cooper, on Feb. 20, 1950, in Piggott, Ark. He later married Carolyn Rogers. 

He is survived by one son, Roger Hickam (wife Shelly) of Somerville, Tenn.; one daughter, Belinda Hickam Smith of Marion; a step-daughter, Becky Livesay-Ralls (husband Darrell); seven grandchildren, Marshall Girtman (wife Jody), Brandi Richardson (husband Chris), Zachary Stout, Miranda Brock (husband Justin), Jacob Hickam, Misti DeVillas (husband Ted), and step-granddaughter Magen Livesay; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Norman Hickam; one sister, Gladys Smithy; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Sarah and Carolyn; a daughter, Joyce Stout and a son-in-law Jim Stout; four brothers, Aubrey, Cecil, Bryan and Glen Hickam; and two sisters, Juanita Gaddis and Mabel Minton. 

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 in Anna. He was a member of the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church. 

He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  

Services will be at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna Thursday, today.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon. The funeral service will begin at noon, with the Rev. Dr. David Fischler officiating. 

Interment will follow in the Alto Pass Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of the VFW in Anna and the Navy funeral honors team.

Following the services, a meal will be served at the Main Street Center in Anna.

Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
