John R. Moreland

John R. Moreland, 87, of Cobden, died Monday, Nov. 8, 2021, at Integrity Healthcare in Cobden. 

He was born on July 14, 1934, in Cobden, the son of Paul and Millicent Black Moreland. 

He married Delaine Webb on Sept. 3, 1955.

Mr. Moreland is survived by his wife, Delaine Moreland; a daughter, Terri (John) Pasquino; a son, Shawn Moreland; grandchildren Seth Richards, Amber Moreland, Courtney (Derek) Misener, Jeremy (Katie) Hickam, Jill (Ben) O’Dell, Bethany (Chad) Haney and Madison Moreland; great-grandchildren Grace and Declan Hickam, Adam and Jacy Mays, Carter O’Dell, Presli and Grayson Garner, Avery and Cayman Haney; other relatives and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Pamela D. Richards; a sister, Mary Sue (Marvin) Caraker; a niece, Candice Paige Hayward; and a nephew, Jason P. Caraker.

Mr. Moreland was a member of the Ainad Shrine Club and Cobden Masonic Lodge No. 466 for more than 50 years. He was a life member of the Moose Lodge in Anna and was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church for many years. 

Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, Nov. 13, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden, with Doug Bridgeman officiating. Interment will be in the Cobden Cemetery. 

Friends can call from 10 a.m. until the service time at noon at the funeral home. Masonic rites will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.  

Memorials can be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
