Johnie Calvin Ward

Johnie Calvin Ward, 82, of Eddyville, Ky., and formerly of Mound City, died at 5:58 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021, at his residence.

Mr. Ward was born on June 7, 1938, in Armorel, Ark., the son of William Roy and Mattie Mae Hardesty Ward.

He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a security guard at Louisiana Docks in Cairo.

Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pauline Ward; three daughters, Linda Walker, Kathleen Gray and Linda Ward; and a son, Johnie Ward.

Survivors include his children, Daniel Walker of Los Angeles, Calif., Debra Devore of Mound City, John Walker of Georgia, Greg Walker of Mounds, Paula Ross of Cairo, Brien Ward of Mounds, Kim Spraggs of Olmsted, Judy Ward of Missouri, Dean Ward of Missouri and Phillip Ward of Missouri; a sister, Helen Ward of Missouri; a brother, Doris Ward of Missouri; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge, with Pastor Joe McCullough officiating. Interment followed in Spencer Heights Cemetery in Mounds with full military honors accorded by the U.S. Army burial team and area veterans.
