Johnnie F. Smith
Johnnie F. Smith, 78, of Colp, and formerly of Anna-Jonesboro, died peacefully on Sunday, July 4, 2021, after a brief struggle with cancer.
He was born on Dec. 8, 1942, in Alto Pass, Illinois, the son of John and Georgia Linton Smith.
Mr. Smith worked as a truck driver and was owner/operator for J & G Trucking for many years. In his free time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his daughters, Julie Smith, Crystal and Jon Housman, Tara and Dan Ruskin and Sherri and James Agers; grandchildren Amy Rhymer, Alexandra Terwelp, Julian Smith, Alayna Miller, Dalton Miller, Dawson Agers, Ryan Rich, Ian Rich, Mackenzie Peck, Madison Housman, Krysten Taylor, Taylor Bell, Tyler Ruskin and Brandon Reynolds; several great-grandchildren; siblings Bob Smith and Mike Smith; and other family and friends.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his daughter, Tina Sue Smith; his parents, John and Georgia Smith; siblings Randy Smith, Jerry Smith, Marcella Tellor, Irene Tellor, Helen Smith and Geraldine Yates.
A memorial gathering will be held at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro on Friday, July 9, from 2 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 9, at 3 p.m. at Crain Funeral Home in Anna. The Rev. Eric Hanson of Camp Creek Baptist Church in Murphysboro will officiate.
Memorials can be made to the Big Creek Cemetery. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home or memorials can be sent to Crain Funeral Home, P.O. Box 257, Anna, Ill. 62906.
As per his wishes, cremation was accorded. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Big Creek Cemetery.
