Josephine Marie Davis, 98, of Anna, died Saturday, June 12, 2021, at 9:38 p.m. at Union County Hospital Long Term Care in Anna.

Josie was born on Oct. 15, 1922, in Johnson County, a daughter of Joseph and Jenny Etta Estes Leist.  

She married David Luther Davis on Nov. 9, 1940. He preceded her in death on July 9, 2011, after 70 years of marriage.  

Mrs. Davis worked for  the Bishop-Davis Ford Dealership in Anna and later for the Illinois Bureau of Tourism.  

She was a member of First Christian Church of Anna and the Union County Republican Women’s Club.  

She was an excellent cook and loved flower arranging, particularly for her church. She enjoyed crafting, basket weaving, sewing and quilting, but especially loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her three children, David Davis of Boise, Idaho, Cheryl (Don) Denny of Anna and Barry Davis of Anna; her six grandchildren, David (Sarah) Davis of Boise, Idaho, Adam Davis of Riverview, Mich., Jeff (Kerry) Denny of Anna, Sarah Poole of Carbondale, Matt (Candace) Denny of Anna and Tim (Kendra) Denny of Anna; her 11 great-grandchildren, David Davis, Levi Davis, Louis (Kati) Denny, Kailey Denny, Josie Rutland, Isaiah Poole, Balyie Denny, Hunter Denny, Brodie Denny, Addison Denny and Payton Denny; her three great-great-grandchildren, Jayci Poe, Kadance Poe and Sayler Thompson; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Bill Leist; and three sisters, Dorothy Jones, Mary Hensley and Ruth Trovillian.

Funeral services will be held at Crain Funeral Home in Anna on Wednesday, June 16, at 11 a.m., with Minister Joey Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Anna City Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to First Christian Church.

Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro was in charge of arrangements.
