Julia Juanita Farris

Julia Juanita Farris, 78, of Dutch Ridge, died at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, at Liberty Village in Marion. 

She was born on May 9, 1938, in Dutch Ridge, the daughter of Earl David and Mellie Opal Outlan Reynolds. 

She married Wilburn M. Marks and they had seven children. Later, Julia married the love of her life, Sammy Lee Farris, on July 20, 1985, in Steelville, Mo. The best years of her life were the 25 years she spent together with Sammy. 

She is survived by her children, Kathy (Shawn) Stearns, Karen (Terry Jr.) Reese, Steven (Sherry) Marks and David (Christine) Marks, all of Dutch Ridge, John (Vivian) Marks of Alto Pass, Joe Marks of Pomona, Julia Kay (Gary) Vaughn of Goreville and Michael (Ashley) Farris of Indiana; 26 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and three more great-great-grandchildren on the way; other relatives and many friends. 

She was a member of the Dutch Ridge Missionary Baptist Church for many years. She retired from Walmart after 25 years of service. She loved all of her pets, especially her dogs; they were like family. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, crafting and yard sales. She was an avid gardener, and loved flower and vegetable gardening. 

Funeral services for Mrs. Farris were at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27, at Dutch Ridge Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Cliff Waller officiating. Interment was in Hagler Cemetery. 

Memorials can be made to the Hagler Cemetery.
