Karen E. Webb Smithey
Karen E. Webb Smithey, 73, of Jefferson City, Tenn., and formerly of Tamms, died Thursday evening, Jan. 12, 2017, at home.
She was born on Nov. 17, 1943, in Fort Benning, Ga., the daughter of Floyd Clinton and Marcella Bufford Webb.
She married Gerald V. Smithey on Sept. 29, 1962.
She was a graduate of Tamms High School and attended Paducah Junior College and Draughn’s Business College.
After her marriage to Jerry, they moved to Arlington, Va., where she worked for a period of time for the Department of Navy in Washington, D.C. She subsequently pursued a career as an artist in the oil painting medium.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry Smithey of Jefferson City, Tenn.; daughter Elizabeth Parenteau of Turners Falls, Mass.; grandson Matthew Parenteau of Turners Falls, Mass.; brothers Dick (Shelby) Webb of McClure, Terry (Kim) Webb of Bellevue, Neb.; sister Ginger Mowery of Vienna; stepsister Sandra (Steve) Icenhower of O’Fallon; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Marcella; her stepfather, Doyle Adams; and a stepbrother, Gregory Adams.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, today, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro, with Diana Blaney officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to the time of the service at the funeral home.
