Karen F. Gardner

Karen F. Gardner, 57, of Jonesboro, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, at Union County Hospital in Anna.

She was born on April 8, 1960, in Carbondale, the daughter of Ronald Dean and Mildred Lois Hoyle Stanley.

She married Roger Gardner on May 1, 1990, in Jonesboro.

She is survived by her husband, Roger Gardner; a son, Richard Stanley of Carbondale; a daughter, Sarah Gardner of Jonesboro; her stepmother, Dorothy Elizabeth Whaley of Cobden; brothers and sisters Ronald Dean Stanley Jr. of Cobden, Janis Lynn (Kenneth) Dunn of Carbondale, Terry Allen (Donna) Stanley of Cobden, Julie Ann (Spencer) McDonald of Gering, Neb., Sheila Marie (David) Rexroat of Wildwood, Mo., Shelly Gaye Parker of Gering, Neb., Juanita Lucille (Billie) Plott of Anna and Renee Patterson of Carbondale; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and by a sister, Mildred “Millie” Etherton.

She was a very active member of the Anna First Baptist Church for many years. She served in the U.S. Army. She worked for the State of Illinois Department of Human Services as a case worker.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 2, at Anna First Baptist Church, with Pastor John Stanley officiating.
