Karen Lee Johnson

Karen Lee Johnson, 78, of Anna, and formerly of Granite City, died surrounded by her loved ones at home on Tuesday, March 22, 2022.

She was born on Dec. 20, 1943, in Granite City, the daughter of Joseph and Leola Wise Harley.

She loved to play bingo in her spare time. She loved spending time with her family, but mostly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her great-grandchildren loved going to see “Memaw” for candy.

Survivors include her daughters, Tracie Easterly of Carbondale and Dawn (Henry) Hand of Anna; a son, Phillip “Moe” (Nancy) Johnson of Anna; brothers Joseph “Joey” (Margaret) Harley of Decatur and Ricky (Kathy) Harley of Greenville; a sister, Marion Henderson of Collinsville; eight grandchildren, Ashley (Josh), Christopher, Steven, Matt, Bryce, Caleb, Jacob (Emily) and Dakota (Sara); 15 great-grandchildren, Ian, Wyatt, Zoey, Kaden, Karcen, Jaycee, Ana, Makenna, Charlotte, Beckett, Rhett, Heidi, Maci, Harper and Raylynn; and several other relatives and friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Jeanette Megyese and Geraldine Gavlick; and three brothers, Keith, Leo and Bobby Harley.

A memorial service honoring the life of Karen Lee Johnson was held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 25, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro, with Joseph Harley officiating.

Memorials can be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.

Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro was in charge of arrangements.
