Katharine Mendenhall-Sinn

Katharine Mendenhall-Sinn, 92, of Anna, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, at her home.

She was born on Jan. 30, 1926, in Philadelphia, Pa., the daughter of Donald Elliot and Helen McFarland Woodbridge.

She married John Howard Mendenhall. He preceded her in death in 2005. Later, she was married for 17 years to Donald Sinn before his death in 2016.

She is survived by her children, Walter Mendenhall, Susan Linher, Barbara Clark, John Mendenhall and Philip Mendenhall; other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands; her parents; and siblings Elsa Kistler, Dudly Woodbridge, Elliot Woodbridge and Edith McNair.

She worked for many years for the Girl Scouts of America. She traveled extensively, living in many different states throughout the United States. She retired at the age of 70 from working out of the national headquarters in New York City.

She loved to go fishing, canoeing and camping, she even backpacked over 500 miles on the Appalachian Trail. Teaching art and playing piano were some of her many talents, along with creating beautiful flower gardens wherever she lived.

One of her proudest achievements was helping to create the parent and child center in Mt. Carmel, which received national recognition and set the standards for a national program.
