Kelton Keith ‘Bear’ Grear

Kelton Keith “ Bear” Grear, 71, of Murphysboro, and formerly of Dongola, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion.

He was born on Nov. 22, 1950, the son of John Thomas and Betty Ridenhour Grear in Anna.

Mr. Grear served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during his service. 

He also worked in the dietary department at Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center in Anna.

Survivors include his sons, Terrance Grear, Tyson Grear and David Joseph Schultz; sisters Tomma (Joe) Hogue and Teresa (Barry) Holcomb; a brother, Shawn (Crystal) Grear; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. 

A graveside service was held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at the American Legion Cemetery in Dongola, with the Rev. Larry Jordan officiating. Inurnment followed. Military honors were accorded at the cemetery.
