Larry Kenneth Kerley

Larry Kenneth Kerley, 74, of Maryville, was born on Sept. 3, 1945, in Paducah,  and died on June 5, 2020, at his residence.

Mr. Kerley was a graduate of Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where he earned a bachelor of education degree and a master of school administration degree.

He was a retired teacher and former owner and operator of Big A Auto Supply in Steeleville, and trucking supervisor for Gilster Mary Lee in Chester.

He was a member of the Town and Country Gun Club in Maryville and enjoyed skeet shooting, reading, computer programming, riding his bicycle and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Kerley and Mary Genevieve Simmons; and by a sister, Linda McKinney.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian (nee Wright) Kerley, whom he married on Sept. 7, 1963; a daughter, Kenttra (Kristopher) Robinson of Edwardsville; four grandchildren, Isabelle, Kaitlyn, Sawyer and Kaia; a stepsister and brother-in-law, Sandra (Dwight) Boaz of Union County; a brother-in-law, Cecil McKinney of Port Charlotte, Fla.; a niece, Christy (Bo) Bishop; a great-nephew Aaron Bishop; a great-niece, Noelle Bishop; a step-niece, Amanda (Chad) Batts; and a step-nephew, Mark (Michaela) Boaz.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville.

Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association and will be accepted by Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center St., Maryville, Ill. 62062.
