Margie Wright

Margie Wright, 94, of Dongola, died at 5:10 a.m. Sunday, June 7, 2020, at Integrity Healthcare of Carbondale.

She was born on Sept. 26, 1925, in Dongola, the daughter of Zeb and Annie Zulene Cauble Peeler.  

She married Leslie W. “Bill” Wright on June 8, 1946.  He preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 2016.

She enjoyed crafts and loved to travel. She and Bill enjoyed their winters in Marathon, Fla. They also completed two round-trip Alaskan motor home excursions.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dongola. 

She is survived by a daughter, Janie Peterson of Dongola; a son, Les (Barb) Wright of Lick Creek; grandchildren Jeff (Katie) Peterson of Marion, Jody (Cherie) Peterson of Jacksonville, Fla., Travis (Mitzi) Peterson of Las Vegas, Nev., and Nicole (Jeremy) Roach of Lick Creek; great-grandchildren Taylor Peterson, Valerie Peterson, Alyssa Peterson, Abigail and Josiah Peterson, Owen Peterson, and Molly and Maggie Roach; a great-great-grandson, Jude;  a brother-in-law, Robert “Bo” Wright of Anna; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Billie Ann; a son-in-law, Tom Peterson; and two brothers, Clifford and Hugh Peeler.

Private graveside services will be held at the American Legion Cemetery in Dongola.

Memorials can be made to the American Legion Cemetery and will be accepted at the funeral home.
