Marilyn Comte, 80, of Cairo and formerly of Thebes and Cape Girardeau, died Friday, June 11, 2021, in Cairo.
She was born on March 1, 1941, in Murphysboro.
She married Eugene David Comte on Dec. 26, 1959, in Murphysboro. Mr. Comte preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1996.
She was a Lutheran and was a homemaker.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 17, at Tower Grove Cemetery in Murphysboro. The Rev. Jason Frederick of the Berean Christian Church in Murphysboro officiated.
Memorials can be made to the humane society of the donor’s choice.
Survivors include two daughters, Frances A. Comte of Olive Branch and Jenny G. Comte of Cape Girardeau; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Minta Comte of Cairo; four grandchildren, Jacob Comte, Taylor Harris, August Wiley and Andrew Ponder.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Nancy Marie Comte, on Feb. 12, 1983, and one grandson, Brenton C. Comte, on May 20, 2001.
