Marilyn Pender

Marilyn Pender, 81, of Cobden, died Sunday, April 3, 2022, at her home. 

She was born on Jan. 7, 1941, in Carbondale, the daughter of Clarence E. and Mary Stanley Dillon. 

She married Paul Pender on Nov. 5, 1983. He preceded her in death on March 17, 2022.

She is survived by her sister, Linda Dillon Garner Parks; a stepson, Karry (Sondra) Pender; step-grandchildren Justin (Lindsey) Pender and Christopher Pender; step-great-grandchildren Cole, Shelby and Jaydra; nieces and nephews Tami Garner Ury, Susan Witthoft, David Witthoft, Rick Garner and Austin Moore; great-nieces and nephews Bailey Street, Presli Garner, Dylan Witthoft, Grayson Garner and Drake Moore; as well as many close members of Paul’s family. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a sister, Sharon Dillon.

She served in the U.S. Air Force; she spoke of her fear when she was required to jump out of an airplane. She continued to serve as a registered nurse at the Veteran’s Medical Center in Marion. She loved to travel, line dance and take care of her many pets. 

Memorial services for Marilyn Pender were at 1 p.m. Friday, April 8, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden, with the Rev. Ed Falgout officiating.
