Mary B. Witthoft

Mary B. Witthoft, 101, of Anna, died at 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 2, 2018, at  Union County Hospital in Anna.  

She was born on March 5, 1917, in Campbell Hill, the daughter of Herbert and Josephine Thies Brenneman.  

She married William F. Witthoft on March 21, 1936, in Marion. He preceded her in death in September 1997.

She is survived by her five sons, Bill Witthoft (Judy Guthrie) of Anna, Jim Witthoft of Campbell Hill, Roy (Jackie) Witthoft of The Villages, Fla., Don (Andrea) Witthoft of Anna and Wayne (Cynthia) Witthoft of Anna; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Josephine Knop of St. Peters, Mo.; a dear friend, Patty Flamm of Cobden; other relatives and friends.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William F. Witthoft; five sons, John, Joseph, Bob, Tom and Dale Witthoft; one brother, Robert Brenneman; and one great-granddaughter, Ashley Leming.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Anna.  

In addition to raising her sons, she was an enthusiastic volunteer, from helping at blood mobiles in the 1970s to assisting at the PAWS thrift store at age 101.  

In the 1980s, she and her husband Bill lived in Missoula, Mont. They were the top two volunteers in the Retired Senior Volunteer Program there.

Funeral services for Mary B. Witthoft were at 11 a.m. Friday, July 6, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill with Pastor Tim Weiser officiating.  Interment was in the Calvary Cemetery in Campbell Hill.  

Memorials can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, to PAWS or to the American Cancer Society.
