Michael Gene ‘Mike’ Chase

Michael Gene Chase, 83, of Evansville, Ind., and formerly of Union County, died on  Monday, April 10, 2023, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

Mr. Chase was born on June 18, 1939, in Anna, the son of John Gibbs Chase and “Bessie” Jones Chase. 

He graduated from Anna-Jonesboro Community High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

He proudly owned his own printing company in Scottsdale, Ariz., before moving back to Illinois, where he worked with his brother, Don, at Tempo Graphics. 

He loved life and spending time with his family and friends, whom he adored. He was an entertainer, who catered to everyone. He enjoyed golfing and traveling.

Mike is survived by his wife of 24 years, Judi (Mathison) Chase; daughter Tracy Lynn (Chase) Johnson (Jim Rasmussen); son David Michael Chase (Adikus); grandsons Ryan Michael Johnson (Stephanie) and Kyle David Johnson (Thea); one great-grandson, Zachary Ryan Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; late wife Peg (Christy) Chase; sisters Mary Ellen, Susan, and Peg; and brother Don.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church at 2300 Washington Ave. in Evansville,  where Mike and Judi are members. Pastor Don Gray will officiate. Burial will be private at a later date in Wheaton Cemetery in Wheaton.
