Nina Brown

Nina Brown, 92, of Cobden, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021, at the Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin. 

She was born on March 31, 1929, in Pittsfield, the daughter of Charles Everett and Monacrista Belle Rogers Coleman. 

She married James “Bill” Brown on Dec. 1, 1984, in Park Ridge. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2021.

She is survived by her two daughters, Linda (Ed) Nolen of Decatur and Cindy Malone of Cobden; stepsons Charles (Beverly) Brown and Robert (Lisa) Brown; a stepdaughter-in-law, Linda Brown; three grandchildren, Jeromy, Jonathan and Jared Fox; six step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-granddaughters; two sisters, Geraldine Brown of Rienzi, Miss., and Bernadine Smith of Altamont; three nieces; one nephew; other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill Brown; a stepson, Michael James Brown; and two sisters, Charlene McGuire and Helen Ellis.

She was a devoted member of the Our Savior Lutheran Church in Carbondale. She enjoyed attending church faithfully with her husband. She and Bill worked together on many projects around their home during their retirement years. 

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Carbondale, with Pastor Robert Gray officiating. Interment was in the Alto Pass Cemetery. 

Memorials can be made to the Our Savior Lutheran Church.
