Richard King
Richard King, 83, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday, July 20, 2021, in the Massac County Emergency Room.
He was born on April 10, 1938, in Union County, the son of Nathaniel and Myrtle Pender King.
He married Tia Haffly on Sept. 22, 2002, in Union County.
Mr. King is survived by his wife, Tia King of Jonesboro; sons Rich (Amy) King of Lick Creek and Danny (Stephanie) King of Campbell Hill; a step-daughter, Marria Walker of Dongola; grandchildren Cody (Laurelin) King, Katy (Noah) Prater and Jaelin King; a great-grandchild on the way, Brynley King; a brother, Fred (Jean) King of Charlotte, Mich.; two sisters, Mary Elkins of Jonesboro and Laura (Bob) Spiller of Anna; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Roy King; and by two sisters, Betty King and Geneva Jackson.
Mr. King worked for many years in the construction industry as a cement mason. He was a member of the Operator Plaster and Cement Mason Local 143. He was passionate and enjoyed his work. In his free time he loved to hunt, fish and have family fish fries.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 24, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with Pastor Noah Fritsche officiating. Interment was in the Jonesboro Cemetery.
