Robbie Dale Turner

Robbie Dale Turner, 56, of Vandalia, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at his home, surrounded by loving family.

He was born on May 18, 1966, in Cahokia, the son of Jimmy Ray Richardson and Leona Kay Turner.

He married Audrey Yvette Snyrponis in Vandalia on March 22, 2019.

A sharp sense of humor, a quick wit and generally funny is how most people recall his personality. He was very family oriented and protective. His humor and strength often offered a calmness for his family and friends to feel relaxed, safe, and comfortable.

Mayzie, his dog, and long-time companion was Robbie’s sidekick. They did everything together, where you saw one, you saw both.

Spending days with the family, especially the grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, were among his favorite things to do. He loved to fish, camp, and go boating, to build memories with whatever friend or family member he was with at the time. He was an artist who enjoyed woodworking, piddling with old cars and old school country music.

He is survived by his parents, Jimmy and Leona Richardson; his wife, Audrey Turner of Vandalia; sons Robert (Lacy) Turner of Salem and Adam Turner of Vandalia; a daughter, Kaitlin Turner of Anna; grandchildren Elijah, Jack, Kambri, Nora, Aubrie and Maddie; and siblings, Peggy (Jerry) Bingaman of Oran, Mo., Jimmie Richardson Jr. of McClure and Patricia (Joe) Williams of Jonesboro.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, today, at the Unity Baptist Church, 716 County Road 1700 N, Vandalia.

Memorials can be made to the Fayette County Cancer Fund, P.O. Box 84, Vandalia, Ill. 62471; and/or to the Warrior Nation Cancer Foundation, 535 Dickey Rd., Vernon, Ill. 62892 or online at warriornationcancerfoundation.org.

The family asks that donations be made in lieu of flowers, plants and other gifts, as these organizations were helpful to the family.

Assalley-Young Funeral Home in Greenville was in charge of arrangements.
