Robert ‘Butch’ Weddel

Robert “Butch” Weddel, 81, of Dongola, and formerly of Crete, died at 2:50 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2023, at his residence.

He was born on June 13, 1941, in Chicago, the son of Dolphia and Rose Marie Neuman Weddel.

Mr. Weddel worked at, and retired from, the Ford Motor Company stamping plant located in Chicago Heights.

He lived his life to the fullest. After retirement he enjoyed the country life. He loved to ride his Harley and socialize with friends. He also enjoyed his American Legion family in French Lick, Ind. He was a member of the Motorcycle Riders Association and was part of the Color Guard.

He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Eubanks (Randy Theis); stepdaughter Missi Lisdero (Donnie Carl); sister Carol Steiner; grandsons Nick (Kylie) Petrus and John Nowicki; three great-grandchildren; niece May Kay (Doug) Keeton; and nephew Joe (Barbara) Tripodi.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Robert “Bobby” Weddel; and a brother-in-law, John Steiner.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola.

Funeral services for Robert “Butch” Weddel will be held Friday, Feb. 3 at 1 p.m., at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola.

Military services will be conducted by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post No. 3455 of Anna. Reflections by family and friends will follow. Inurnment will follow at a later date.

Memorials can be made to the Motorcycle Riders Association and/or the American Legion Color Guard in French Lick, Ind.
