Robert G. ‘Bob’ Manus
Robert G. “Bob” Manus, 85, of Anna, died at 7:25 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna.
He was born on May 6, 1932, in Anna, the son of Earl and Mina Garner Manus.
He married Lula Mowery Spier in October of 1996.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a member of Anna Masonic Lodge No. 520 and Carpenters Local No. 638. He worked in the construction industry in Southern Illinois for over 50 years. He was a life-long outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Lula Manus of Anna; a son, Jay (Terry) Manus of Anna; a daughter, Beth Harvel (Sam Betts) of Anna; three grandchildren, Mike Manus of Chicago, Brandon Harvel of Jonesboro and Lauren (Davin) Hannuksela of Anna; three great-grandchildren, Peyton, Aniston and Asher; a stepdaughter, Debbie (Scott) Dailey of Havana; a stepson, Bobby (Joetta) Spier of Marion; three step-grandchildren, Alexa Spier of Fort Collins, Colo., Mike (Shelly) Wright of Anna and Crystal (Bumper) Gurley of Jonesboro; three step-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives, including Linda (Charley) Whaley and Jimmy (Kimmy) Kapica of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael Patrick Manus; a sister, Patricia (George) Kapica; and a nephew, John Kapica.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Dec. 14, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro. Masonic Rites will be accorded at noon followed by funeral services at 12:15 p.m. with Pastor Paul Tirey and Lane Rhodes officiating. Interment will follow at the Anna City Cemetery, with military honors by the U.S. Air Force and the VFW’s Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of Anna.
