Ronal G. Jackson Sr.

Ronal G. Jackson Sr., 77, of Elizabethtown, and formerly of Anna and South Elgin, died at 4:54 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.

He was born on Dec. 4, 1943, in Anna, the son of Jewel Collin and Lucille Barker Jackson. 

He married Linda Rae Olson on Dec. 8, 1962.

Mr. Jackson graduated from Dongola High School in 1962. He was a member Chicago Iron Workers Local Union 63 for 54 years. He worked on many of the buildings that graced the Chicago skyline, including the Sears Tower. 

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and hanging out with his dogs Bella and B.

He is survived by his wife, Linda (Olson) Jackson of Elizabethtown; sons Ronal (Jeannie) Jackson Jr. of Elgin and Randy Jackson of Elizabethtown; grandchildren Melissa Martens of Crystal Lake, Brandon Martens of Gravois Mills, Mo., Michael (Rosie) Martens of Oak Lawn and Ronal (Keli) Jackson III of Ashland City, Tenn.; great-grandchildren Fallyn Fricano, Journey Martens, Mia Martens, Teagan Roe, Shane Martens and Waylon Jackson; his sisters, Doris (Wayne) Whiteside of Dongola and Pam (Jeff) Gee of Carterville; and two brothers, Gary (Linda) Jackson of Jonesboro and Roger Jackson of Anna.

Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy (Bill) Hill of Anna and Wanda (Barney) Smith of Freeburg; a brother, Richard (Virginia) Jackson of Joliet; and a sister-in-law, Debbie Jackson of Anna.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna.

Per his wishes there will be no service. Cremation will follow. Inurnment will take place later at the American Legion Cemetery in Dongola.

Crain Funeral Home in Anna is in charge of arrangements.
