Ruth Jane Brown

Ruth Jane Brown, 90, of Perryville, Mo., died on Oct. 30, 2018, at Independence Care Center in Perryville, Mo.

She was born on Dec. 14, 1927, in Bald Knob, Ark., the daughter of Henry M. and Willie B. Johnson Acklin.  

She married L. Doyle Brown on Aug. 27, 1946.  He preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 1997.

She was retired from retail sales. She was a volunteer at the Senior Citizens Center and at Perry County Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church near Anna.

Survivors include one son, Leander D. (Sharon) Brown of Perryville, Mo.; one daughter-in-law, Linda Brown of Perryville, Mo.; one sister, Virginia Humphreys of Hornbeak, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Robert Brown and Susan (Ben) Randolph; and three great-grandsons, Mitchell Rousseau, Jonathon and William Randolph.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and eight half-brothers and sisters.

Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, at St. John’s Cemetery near Dongola.

Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Young & Sons Funeral Home Inc. in Perryville, Mo., was in charge of arrangements.
