Samuel Dale Schlamer ‘Sammy’

Samuel Dale Schlamer “Sammy,” 67, of Thebes, died at 3:28 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 2021, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Mr. Schlamer was born on May 28, 1954, in Cairo, the son of S.D. and Evelyn Clifford Schlamer. 

He married Mary Ellen Whiteside on July 11, 1987. 

Mr. Schlamer graduated from Egyptian High School, Class of 1972. He retired from Bunge Corporation in Cairo after 28 years. 

He was a lifelong member in the community of Thebes, as he never moved away from his roots. 

Mary and Sammy spent their time on their land raising cattle, until he decided to start planting crops. 

He was very active in the sporting and hunting community. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at the local hunting clubs. Sammy was of the Christian faith.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Whiteside Schlamer of Thebes; two sons, Jacob and wife Jessica (Griswell) Schlamer and Jordan Schlamer of Cape Girardeau; a granddaughter, Layken Schlamer; and a sister, Sandy (Schlamer) Foote of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by his parents, S.D. and Evelyn Clifford Schlamer.

A memorial visitation was held at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms on Monday, June 14, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
