Sheila Ruth Shadowens-Yates

Sheila Ruth Shadowens-Yates, 65, of Cobden, died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2022, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born on March 30, 1957, in Anna, the daughter of Clarence Ray and Ruth Evelyn Dehart Aldridge. 

She married Jack Shadowens on April 15, 1973. He preceded her in death on May 14, 2005. She later married Larry Yates on Nov. 26, 2013. He preceded her in death on April 24, 2020.

She is survived by her two sons, Bronson Shadowens (Jacqueline Hickam) and Brandon Shadowens; daughter-in-law, Missy Smith-Shadowens, all of Cobden; three grandchildren, Logan Thomas Shadowens, Katelyn Shadowens and Kinnley Shadowens; a brother, Clarence Jeff (Nancy) Aldridge of Cobden; a niece, Sarah Aldridge; a nephew, Clarence Michael Aldridge, all of Cobden; a great-niece, Patricia Aldridge, and a great-nephew, Brayden Aldridge; an aunt, Barbara Morrison of Anna; and best friend Mary Ann Yates of Tennessee. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her husbands, Jack Shadowens and Larry Yates.

She was a member of the Makanda Baptist Church. She worked for ET Simonds and was retired from Com-Pac International in Carbondale. She loved riding horses and attending the softball and basketball games for her grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden. Interment was in Cobden Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Shadowens family.
