Shirley Ann Stringer

Shirley Ann Stringer, 88, of Villa Ridge, died upon arrival at 11:41 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2023, at Deaconess Medical Center in Evansville, Ind., following an automobile accident in Union County.

She was born on March 5, 1935, in Mounds, the daughter of Carl Harper Sr. and Achsah Laws Harper.

She was a faithful member of the Pulaski Christian Church, where she held special interest in sharing her talent with many floral arrangements through the seasons in the church auditorium. She served as a church deaconess and was a member of the church ladies’ aide having helped with many meals at the church fellowship hall.

She enjoyed volunteering for many years at the Pulaski County Fair, where she and her late husband, Harold, were grand parade marshals for the fair’s 50th year.

She was a homemaker, where she enjoyed assisting her husband and family on the family farm. She held other interest of employment with her late husband, as well as working in the Pulaski Post Office.

On Oct. 27, 1952, in Hernando, Mo., she married Harold L. Stringer, who preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 2013. 

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; son Rodney Lee Stringer; sister Betty Udvare; and brothers Carl Harper Jr. and Kenneth Harper.

Survivors include her son, Chris (Misty) Stringer; sisters Sharon Ryan and Gloria Wihle; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday, March 24, at Pulaski Christian Church in Pulaski. Pastor Bill Littrell officiated. Interment followed in Liberty Cemetery rural Pulaski.
